Using the TBK SOURCES Tab

TBKOne of the benefits of being a member at True Blue Kentucky is that, by being here for an extended period of time, you have fit the mold of what we are looking for in terms of being a "good" member. Because some members don't make the cut, the others have to spend less time wading through crazy threads you might find elsewhere to get real info by some of our more informed staffers.

In case you haven't noticed, we've provided an even more convenient method of getting straight to the best information this site has to offer: the TBK SOURCES tab.

You'll find the TBK SOURCES tab on the ribbon bar atop the page here on the site. Premium members can save even more time by going straight to this tab, select the TBK Source that he or she wants to read, and get a list of all the posts made by that source.

Once you have selected the TBK Source you want to read, you will have two further options:

  1. Select the thread name (highlighted in blue text) to go to the complete discussion thread
  2. Select the small blue post number in the upper right to navigate to that exact post
This premium feature of the site really helps to save time finding info on True Blue Kentucky and to verify that you haven't missed anything really important by our most esteemed prognosticators....and Dave.

TweetDeckWow, Twitter has really taken off since we signed on at TBK just a few short months ago. The other recruiting bloggers and UK websites shortly followed suit after realizing what a wonderful tool Twitter really is.

It’s impossible to turn your TV on, watch anything, and not hear about Twitter. The practice of “tweeting” is being caught on by everyone. Celebs, athletes, news channels, sports teams, ect.

The last time I wrote to you guys about Twitter, it was just an introductory piece and more of a “how to” on the initial setup and install for Twitter. Well by now you’re all probably well aware that Twitter is becoming more feature rich and the various way to “tweet” are expanding just about every week.

There are a few Twitter applications out there for the many platforms in which it can be done and your timeline can be followed. I will take you over those that I have used personally and found to be truly of value, fun, and easy to use.

TBK How To Series: The Legend Point

User Rating: / 8

tbkOne of the biggest sources of question and frustration on TBK's forums is the concept of legend points. What are they, and how do I get them? Why do I get them docked? Why can't I give legend points? So since John Calipari is creating virtually no news around Kentucky basketball between all the updated news blogs on UK recruiting, I wanted to provide a little bit of legend point insight.

TBK TIP: Show Latest Posts Feature

On a website loaded with unique features to assist their message board community more often than not important features can be overlooked or not utilized simply because people are unaware they are available.

With TBK Tips Blogs we like to highlight certain features of the website that can make life much easier for our users. One of these often under utilized features is the Show Latest Posts utility in which a user is provided several options to access the newest posts on the site in various forums either since their last visit to the site OR during a particular time frame.

Not only is this feature convenient for those who are limited in their browsing time (yes, I'm looking at those guys who are trying to sneak a peek at the site from their work cubicle) but it is also very efficient for those who aren't exactly thrilled about scrolling through 10 pages of a thread to get to the latest updates since their last visit.

New Feature : Request a Verified Source response.

dTBK launched a new feature today which many will find useful.

If you look at the bottom of each post, you will now see two blue links.  The "report to a moderator" link has been there since inception, and should be used to report any post that you feel violates the rules or spirit of True Blue Kentucky.  Obviously, not ever report will result in action, but we do appreciate it when members help the moderators keep the boards in line.

The second link is brand new starting today.  "Request a Verified Source response" is your way to request that one of TBK's verified sources sees the post you report.  When you click the link, it takes you to a screen where you can enter your message to be emailed directly to all Verified sources.

youtubeOne of the most fun and interesting features TBK has to offer is the ability to embed youtube videos into message board posts.  This feature, however, isn't used nearly as much as people would like, because it isn't as simple as just cutting and pasting an internet URL.  It is fairly easy to do, though, after attempting it a couple of times.

The following is a set of simple instructions for embedding youtube videos into message board posts:

True Blue RSS

altAs we try to bring you more and more great features to use here at TBK we want to keep you informed on how to use these tools to get the most out of your experience here. One of the best features that a website can provide is access to an RSS feed.

I'm sure as you have browsed the internet (no doubt costing your company alot of money in bandwidth and lost work) you have at least seen the icon to the left. This is the marker for an RSS feed. RSS is really easy to set up and will end up being one of your favorite internet tools once you start reaping the benefits.
